Die gesamte Tragwerkskonstruktion wurde primär unter Nachhaltigkeits- und Effizienzkriterien entwickelt und
stellt eine Innovation hinsichtlich des ökonomischen Materialeinsatzes dar.

Das Dachtragwerk ist als ovale Faltkonstruktion, an den Rändern aufgestützt, konzipiert.

Die Unterkonstruktion ist eine materialoptimierte Stahlkonstruktion - die Dacheindeckung in transluzenter
Gewebemembran mit Schallschutz-
einlagen ist das Ergebnis intensiver Forschungstätigkeit auf diesem Gebiet.

The new Velodrome in Erfurt is designed as a multifunctional venue for athletes and the public. A canopy is planned for the entire 250 m long cycling track.

The new track is placed as a shell in the present interior space of the existing 333 m long track.

The entire structural system was developed primarily under sustainability and efficiency criteria and represents an innovation with respect to economic application of materials.

The roof structure is conceptualized as an elliptical fold structure, supported on its edges.

The substructure is a materially optimized steel structure – the roof, covered with translucent tissue membranes and inset with soundproofing panels, is the result of intensive research activity on such structures.
